Smart home appliances are out in force at CES 2023, but few seem to be as intelligent as the GE Profile Smart Mixer with Auto Sense. Designed to make the mixing process as simple as possible, the sleek gadget uses a built-in scale, viscosity measurements, and voice controls to streamline your time in the kitchen. It was also named a CES Innovations Awards Honoree in the Home Appliance category. The built-in scale is the feature that expert and amateur bakers will most appreciate, as it allows you to add ingredients directly to the mixer without dirtying another bowl. Once you’ve added your ingredients, you can snap on any number of mixing attachments via a simple, one-touch system that allows for fast connections. As for the actual mixing process, the GE Profile Smart Mixer will mix everything together and automatically stop after detecting the optimal viscosity (based on motor torque feedback). Toss in voice controls (along with Alexa and Google Home support), a brushless motor for lower running temperatures, continuous support through the GE Profile Connect+ update system, notification lights, and access to the SmartHQ app that offers dozens of guided recipes, and it’s clear GE is gunning for a spot on your kitchen counter. The GE Profile Smart Mixer retails for $1,000 and is shaping up to be stiff competition for the premium stand mixers from KitchenAid — which have long dominated the market. At launch, Crate & Barrel will be the exclusive carrier of the Smart Mixer, with black, white, and silver models currently up for grabs. We expect other retailers to follow at a later date, although future plans have not been announced by GE. Just getting started in the kitchen? Cync by GE Lighting has officially launched the Dynamic Effects Smart Hexagon Panels, making it the latest member of the ever-growing Dynamic Effects family. Compatible with both Alexa and Google Home, the panels are designed to offer a highly programmable lighting solution for home theaters, game rooms, or anywhere else in your home that might benefit from a pop of color. The Hexagon Panels clock in at $190 for a pack of 10 — putting them above similar products from Govee and other lighting brands. However, the GE Lighting panels are well specced, featuring 16 million colors, six controllable zones within each hexagon, and directional control for music and light shows. If you don’t want to create your own light shows, you can choose from a list of pre-built options. The smart home market is arguably the strongest it’s ever been. Apple recently reintroduced the HomePod to rave reviews, Roborock is gearing up to launch its new lineup of powerful robot vacuums, and nearly half of U.S. households interact with a smart home gadget every month. That’s an impressive number, and it’s an increase from 2022 — meaning the market is trending in the right direction, and folks seem to be buying into the dream of an interconnected household. This incredible market saturation means it’ll take a long time for the smart home market to completely vanish — and its death probably isn’t going to happen this year (or anytime soon). But the rest of 2023 will be an interesting year for the smart home industry, as Amazon and Google have run into financial issues with their smart home offerings, while Apple finally seems to be gaining momentum.
Money trouble at Amazon and Google Jackery is one of the most popular manufacturers of portable energy solutions, offering products that are stylish, environmentally friendly, and can easily be incorporated into most outdoor lifestyles. The company doubled down on these features during CES 2023, revealing several products that walked away with a total of four Innovation Awards. The most intriguing Jackery product on display at CES 2023 was the LightTent-AIR, which is an inflatable tent that comes with a built-in power supply. Flexible solar panels on its canopy can pump out 1,200W of power, which is then sent to built-in storage modules to provide you with a source of energy at night — letting you charge your gear while sleeping so it’s ready for your next adventure.
