Mortal Kombat 12: everything we know

The legendary Mortal Kombat franchise is preparing for its 12th installment to release in 2023. Why haven’t you heard more about it? Well, there hasn’t been an official announcement yet! During a recent Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call, CEO David Zaslav casually mentioned that Mortal Kombat 12 is in the works and is expected to come out this year. Speaking about WB Games’ upcoming lineup, Zaslav stated that the “highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12” is in the works alongside Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and that the company has “ambitious launch projections” for this title. We still don’t know much about the game yet, but we expect more info will be announced soon now that everyone knows it’s in development. Here’s what we know so far. There is no set release date for Mortal Kombat 12 since the game hasn’t officially been announced yet, but Zaslav let it slip that the team is aiming to launch it sometime in 2023. Here’s a clip of that part of the earnings call. We expect Mortal Kombat 12 to be available on most platforms. Mortal Kombat 11 launched on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, and was later made available on the Xbox Series X and PS5. There’s no word on whether or not this title will be made available on last-gen consoles. The genre of realistic, competitive FPS games is dominated by a few titles. Call of Duty has become synonymous with multiplayer shooters for over a decade now, but Battlefield at one point was a strong rival. Unlike CoD, we don’t see a new Battlefield game on the list of upcoming video games every year, so the franchise isn’t always top of mind outside of its hardcore fanbase. The last entry was a disappointment for almost everyone, so we’ve been waiting for the announcement of the next entry to start fresh, somewhat like Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Perfect Dark. We have only seen the tiniest glimpse at the future, but here is the full loadout on everything we know about what we’re calling Battlefield 6.
Release window We know that EA and Battlefield Studios are gearing up to bring players into various playtests for Battlefield 6 thanks to the Battlefield Labs program. That said, it was made abundantly clear that when these tests do start, the game will be in a pre-alpha state. How long a game is in pre-alpha before launch can vary, but EA at least currently expects the game within its 2026 fiscal year according to its third-quarter earnings report. That would mean the game could be released any time between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. Handheld gaming is bigger now than ever, thanks to the Nintendo Switch (and soon-to-be Switch 2) and the Steam Deck. While these portable devices are not as powerful as the best video game consoles, their convenience and relative power make them ideal for anyone who is on the go, shares a TV, or just wants to play from the comfort of their bed. Xbox has already made its plans clear about its own handheld, but many thought PlayStation had given up on the market after the Vita. It would later release the PlayStation Portal, which can be used for remote play or cloud streaming, but can’t play games natively. Now, we have reports of a true PlayStation portable system on the way. Grab your UMDs and chargers while we talk about everything we know about the next PlayStation handheld.
Release speculation Before there was Horizon, the iconic dinosaur hunter was Turok. This series was at its peak on the N64, but has remained untouched since 2008. Much like Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Turok is making a comeback after over a decade away. Turok: Origins is an upcoming video game from Saber Interactive. The game might look like Ark 2 at first glance, but Turok: Origins is an exciting upcoming PlayStation 5 game for very different reasons. Let’s stalk our prey and hunt down all the information we can about this new co-op game. For a full list of all the upcoming Xbox Series X games, upcoming PC games, and upcoming Switch games, look no further than our comprehensive lists.
