The Forsaken DLC was added to Destiny 2 three years ago and to this day is still met with the praise of being the game’s best expansion. Now, Bungie reports that it will be another piece of the game locked in the Destiny Content Vault, which was introduced last summer. The developers will now focus on the new launch of The Witch Queen update coming in February of 2022.
The Destiny Content Vault was introduced as a way to cycle through select content in order to allow the development team to focus on different expansions and updates. With its launch, Bungie claims that there is a great deal of technical “breathing room,” allowing more care to be put into additional renovations.
“Beginning on February 22, the Forsaken campaign and the Tangled Shore destination will enter the DCV (Note: The Dreaming City destination will continue to be available), along with Year 4 Seasonal content, including the Presage and Harbinger Exotic missions,” Bungie states in its press release.
Year 4 content including Proving Grounds strike and the Battlegrounds activities will persist into Year 5. In February the Battlegrounds will combine with strikes into a new playlist titled “Vanguard Operations.”
Those that may have missed out on Forsaken are in luck, as the campaign expansion will be available for all players free of charge starting December 7 until February 2022 when it enters the vault. On December 7, the Forsaken Pack will also be available for purchase, including access to the Last Wish raid, Shattered Throne dungeon, and all the Forsaken Exotics. The new Witch Queen expansion hits Destiny 2 on February 22, 2022.
After much speculation, we finally know the exact hardware specs for the Nintendo Switch 2, and they offer a massive upgrade over its predecessor. Eurogamer revealed the specs, courtesy of Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter, and the numbers show a system significantly more powerful than the original Nintendo Switch, but one that still has certain limitations that developers will need to work around. First up, the Nintendo Switch 2 has double the cores of the original, sporting a total of eight with two reserved for system operations and six available to developers. It also features six times the number of CUDA cores, at 1536 compared to its predecessor’s 256.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, but it might not be alone. In a Nintendo Creator’s Voice interview, series director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that Remake Intergrade would come to Switch 2, something we already knew from an April announcement. It’s a line about four minutes into the video that has caught gamers’ attention: “And with the release of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2, it would make me very happy if two generations connect and share a bond over the characters.” Hamaguchi’s phrasing suggests that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the final entry in the series are not out of the realm of possibility for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future.
He said that porting the game to Nintendo Switch 2 is possible thanks to its upgraded specs. “We’d like players to feel the same excitement and surprise they felt playing the original game when they play the remake on Switch 2. With the power of Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs.”
If Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t Souls-like enough for you, the new Hardcore Mode update will correct that. The update is now live, and the new mode ramps the difficulty up to roughly that of trying to survive the Bubonic Plague era on an immunosuppressant. It’s been part of the roadmap for a long time, but players are just getting to experience what the mode actually means. It’s intended to make gameplay more immersive by shutting off conveniences like fast travel, your own location on the map, or even directions to your next quest. In other words, if you want to know where to go and what to do next, you’d better pay attention to what you’re told. The patch notes read, “Hardcore Mode is here — and it’s not for the faint of heart.”
